Stuart Ruff, Managing Creative Partner
Stu started out his working life in a very different place, until his grandad noticed a flair for doodles. That’s when he turned his back on the world of council office clerk and focussed on Design.
Today, as Managing Creative Partner of Shed, he finds himself “in a very exciting place,” taking full advantage of his experience over the last 20 years. A path that has covered playing the junior at his first job (we all gotta do the tea) to Art Director and lastly Creative Director, working on many loved brands along the way including British Shoe (‘man I love shoes’), Tesco (‘that Florence and Fred are really nice peeps’), Levi, Vodafone, Mothercare, Clarks, McDonald’s (‘seven great years’), Ribena, Rexona, Weber Grills, Camel, Pall Mall and Winston.
Stu is inspired by the stuff around him and believes ‘why’ is always the best question and that the freedom of a tight brief inspires great work. A passionate map lover, Sky Blue supporter and at this moment, after receiving a slice, big pomelo fan. Music has always played a part in his life (very varied). Travel, photography and being inquisitive make up some of the rest.
Stu’s still chasing the perfect brief when a map concept wins the day for cartographers worldwide. So, if you’d like to make Stu’s dreams come true, definitely give us a jingle.
